Feeling better

Sophia is finally feeling better. We had a few days of no naps, lots of screaming, lots of falling over and bruising, lots of not eating baby food. There were also several nights of waking up every 3-4 hours. She's usually a great sleeper - to bed at 8:30 pm, wake up between 2 and 4 am to nurse, and wake up somewhere between 6:30 am and 8 am.

It's good to have a happy baby back again. She slept so well last night. It was good to get some solid hours of sleep too. Of course, now that she's feeling better, she wants to DO EVERYTHING! She "helped" me empty the dishwasher. She's also pretty talented at banging pots and pans on the kitchen floor too. I really have to watch my step while I'm in the kitchen because I almost step on her.

Sophia's latest accomplishment is learning how to play Patty-Cake. It's SOOOOO cute! We have to get her on video doing her clapping. She's so proud of herself!

Sick but still funny

I stayed home all day with Sophia. She finally caught the fever and ick that was passed from Aaron and Laurie's kids to Carla and Louis's kids. It was bound to happen. I'm just happy she didn't catch it when we were flying home!

Boy, was she a grump today! I took her temperature last night, and she had a 102 degree temp. I dosed her up with Infant Tylenol and put her to bed early. She woke up this morning with the same fever, so she's been on the same Tylenol regiment all day. We stayed home from church. She spent most of the day upset. She didn't want to eat much baby food, so I pretty much nursed her some 10 times today. She took a lot of cat naps and woke up from all of them screaming. I think she was feeling better this evening because she finally started playing with her toys and crawling more than 5 feet away from me.

I was able to capture her "new face." I think she's trying to do that fishy face that I make at her all the time. I got this picture and laughed so hard, I cried! It was a happy ending to the day. Hopefully, she will wake up tomorrow in a good mood and with no fever.

My, how she's grown!

I think this is cute. I shot this first picture when Sophia was only 2 months old. Is that the same baby??? Yes, but she's 8 months old now!

My new computer

While we were visiting Indiana, I found this play laptop for Sophia. Whenever Brett or I are working on our computers, she always stands right by our feet and tries to see what we're doing. So, I found this laptop for Sophia to work on while we're working, and she LOVES it! It's so much fun, it put her to sleep in the car.

Trip back to Indiana

Every time I go back home for a visit, I always think that I should take more pictures. That thought didn't sink in on this trip. Oh well! We still had a good time. Luckily, I was able to capture a few shots.

Unfortunately, Brett wasn't able to stay the entire time, so he had to leave at the beginning of the trip, do a few days at work, and then come back. I was so thankful he did because having Sophia on a plane for two legs by myself would have been a little unnerving! Sophia did a pretty good job on the flights. She's so used to crawling around on the floor all the time, so when she had to sit in our laps for a few hours, she wasn't too pleased. On our way back, we purposely took a flight that gave us a 2-hour layover in DC, so she was able to crawl around for a while.

The trip was great. We took a drive to Marion to see all of the Dickason and Musick side of the family. We got to see Brett' s cousin, Justin's, new baby girl. We hadn't seen Katelee since she was born...and I'm not sure if I'm spelling her name correctly! She and Sophia are about 4 months apart. We plopped them down on the floor, and they just examined each other. Sophia really hasn't been around another baby, so it was really interesting to watch her reaction. She kept wanting to put her fingers in the baby's eyes...don't quite get that one. We also got to go over to Brett's grandpa's and visit with him. Grandpa Musick just kept pulling baby toys out from the back rooms, so Sophia warmed up to him.

I got to spend a good amount of time with Brett's mom, since she had the week off of work, so that was nice. I should say that SOPHIA got to spend time with her, while I worked on my computer. Mom took Friday off of work, so we got to spend the afternoon together. We went down to Noblesville to drive around some neighborhoods to see what was for sale. Sophia had had enough of the carseat by the time we drove back, and we got to hear her cry quite a bit. I think she got her lungs from me! Great...

Over the weekend, Sophia and I went with the Suppinger side up to the lake in Michigan. The weather was perfect! Aaron and Laurie came with their kids. Carla came with her kiddos. Louis had caught the sick ick that Aaron's kids had caught earlier in the week, so he stayed home. The kids got to swim in the water and went fishing. I got to go swimming! I can't remember when I swam at the lake last. It was great!

Brett flew in the following Tuesday, so we stuck around town and spent time with family. It was a great trip! Sophia warmed up to her 6 cousins bombarding her, and now I think she misses it! There were a couple times today when she actually looked bored. Next trip will probably come in late October or so, when Carla has her next little bundle.

Here comes the hail

Oh, yes, that's hail. Brett, Sophia and I were going to leave for our trip to Indiana on August 11, and it's a good thing we didn't because this is what fell that afternoon. This hail was as big as a nickel at one time, and our backyard was covered in it. I thought something had fallen off someone's car or flew out of someone's trash and blew into our backyard, but it was actually a big pile of hail that had gathered in the water coming down the hill.

Oh yes, those are teeth

Sophia's bottom two teeth are coming in! I discovered that she likes to eat apples, or at least suck on them now.

Yellow cup...what's in there?

Folding

I washed the beach towels from our trip to Cape Cod, and I was folding them in our bedroom. Sophia was on the bed with her burp cloth and decided to start folding her "towel" too. It was so cute! She kept flinging it in the air like I did when I shook out the towels. Then she'd put the cloth above her head and pull it down onto her lap...so serious. It was so cute!

Standing series

We've been taking pictures of Sophia in her new "standing position." She can pull herself up on things now, and she's so happy when she gets up and can look around at everything. It's so funny! She's also started to give up on the army crawl and can crawl on hands and knees.
