The girls did a great job on the drive south. We stopped just north of Lexington, KY for a picnic at a park, where the girls got to stretch their legs and play. That resulted in a nice, quiet drive for the rest of the way.
Our cabin was just outside of Pigeon Forge and way up on the side of a mountain. And when I say way up, I mean WAY UP. Thank goodness Brett has no fear of heights because this drive was straight up. I felt like I was in a roller coaster seat at one point and consequently closed my eyes on the way up and down to the house. Gives me the willies just thinking about it.
The cabin was really cute. No yard, since it was, well, on a cliff basically. It was three levels with four bedrooms, and it had a pool table and projection screen in the basement. So there was a lot of pool games, and we watched a movie every night. We learned how thankful we are to live our everyday life in a ranch home though. No children fell down the stairs. But Brett and I both fell down the steps, Brett a small stumble, and me a...well...I came home with lots of bruises.
We were able to go to the aquarium in Gatlinburg which was TOTALLY worth it. If you are ever in the area, go there. It was amazing. Maybe the best aquarium we've been to. They had one great exhibit where you stood on a moving platform that took you underwater through the shark and fish tanks. WOW! The girls really liked the places where they could crawl through tunnels and pop up in the exhibits. We all had a great time there.
Brett's brother, Chad, came to visit us while we are there too. It was nice to see him. He brought books for the girls, so they immediately warmed up to him.
GREAT VACATION! Can't wait until we can spend some family time again!
