The 9-month checkup

Sophia and I went in for her 9-month checkup today. She was so good. I think the doctor was thankful, since there was an unusually high amount of screaming in the office today. They were handing out flu shots, so that must have been the source. Sophia got her shot and whimpered. This kid amazes me. Anyway, all her weights and measurements were on target. Her growing has sort of plateaued a bit. She didn't gain much weight, but she did get a lot taller. Here are the numbers:

Weight: 18 pounds, 4 ounces ; 30th percentile
Height: 28 inches ; 54th percentile
Head Circum.: 45 cm ; 71st percentile

Hm. Looks like she's getting a big head.

Our challenge now is trying to get her to put herself to sleep. Sophia's been having some trouble sleeping lately. It doesn't matter when I put her to bed. She will still wake up at least once in the middle of the night. That I don't mind. It' s the 6 am wake up call that kills me. She's got some sort of internal clock or something. Every single morning...ugh. The doc said she shouldn't need to get up in the middle of the night to eat anymore. Great. I'd like to see him try to calm this kid down without nursing her. I think we'll tackle the whole sleep regiment after we go to this wedding on Friday. I really don't want to have to deal with it at a hotel.

Next project on the list: searching for a good booster seat. Sophia only has two more inches before she needs to be in a booster rather than the clip-in carseat we have now.
